Scott Lowe at Server Virtualization blog shares his view on how virtualization impacts IT staff, security and change management. He says that change management is a challenge as server virtualization introduces new complexities and intricacies to existing change management procedures. Even through the challenges, there is little doubt that virtualization can offer amazing reductions in total cost of ownership.

GigaOm notes that Amazon has increased its web services and storage features, which could positively impact its reliability and decrease downtime.

David Christiansen from Corporate Technology Darkside posts that corporate IT is a barrier to innovation. In order for IT departments and businesses to effectively work together to achieve a common goal (whether it’s defining a process for change management or project management), both sides need to work together to collaborate effectively.

Risks involved with change management are compared to the movie I Am Legend in this post by Andy Blumenthal at User-Centric Enterprise Architecture. He discusses the idea that, “catastrophic consequences from change can occur for example, when we make changes to products, processes, people, and technologies in organizations. These can result in unintended consequences like defective products, inefficient processes, accidents to employees, and failed IT implementations to name just a few.”
