About This Blog

Our goal at “IT’s About Uptime” is to initiate an ongoing dialogue with IT Operations professionals about technologies, trends and solutions related to keeping their companies’ IT services up and running. We’ll examine what it takes for companies to meet uptime demands and how to avoid the actions that are most likely to cause problems. In doing so, we’ll also cover topics of interest to virtualization experts and testing professionals. Through examples and discussions of downtime, how to manage change, testing practices and IT operations trends and pressures, we hope that this blog provides you with the experience and opinion to form your own thoughts and make decisions to positively impact your business. From time to time, we will also touch on StackSafe products, events, research and other updates that explain our company’s point-of-view on uptime and other IT Operations concerns.

Joe has been working in information technology and information security for over 12 years. He has led consulting engagements, marketing efforts and product campaigns for clients such as General Dynamics, Juniper Networks, and DHS. A technologist at heart, Joe has earned an ITIL foundation certificate in IT Service Management and he is also certified in the National Security Agency INFOSEC Assessment Methodology. Joe has also written a number of whitepapers, vulnerability assessments and contributed articles for technical audiences. He will serve as the primary blogger for IT’s About Time.

As the Director of Product Management for the Global Managed Security Services division of Symantec, he was able to product manage the integration and globalization of the Riptech managed security service and also oversaw the adoption of ITIL best practices.
