Information Technology Dark Side asks if ”enterprise” is dead. He believes that the concept of the enterprise has been largely harmful to the information technology trade.

The differences between IT and management are discussed by Network Performance Daily. A recent article in the WSJ spurred this post and some further thoughts on the need for better IT communication and a better understanding of business needs in IT.

Deepak Gupta at D’Technology Weblog points out some key security risks and benefits to implementing virtualization, as evidenced by an article in InfoWorld.

FCHouse gives a few tips on managing a server, including testing upgrades on a staging server. The tips listed were followed, resulting in limited downtime and a successful server upgrade.

Speaking of downtime, both Google (in Germany) and American Express experienced some significant downtime the past week.
