How StackSafe™ Test Center Works

StackSafe Test Center enables IT Operations teams to quickly and easily create copies of the software infrastructure stack, and to test changes made to these copies. Test Center's Import CD loads a non-persistent client that imports each production server disk image into the Test Center staging, testing, analysis and reporting environment (the sandbox). IT Operations can import images from physical as well as virtualized environments. Using virtualization technology, the imported images are networked into a working software infrastructure stack that closely represents the actual production configuration.

Conduct Testing Quickly and Easily

StackSafe Test Center enables IT personnel to quickly and easily conduct testing on imported images around the clock, without scheduling downtime or interacting with the production application stacks. Test Center's ability to test changes is facilitated by the inclusion of pre-defined tests and testing templates. A variety of software infrastructure tests for status, functionality, configuration, reliability, security, connectivity and performance can be executed from within Test Center. In addition, Test Center supports the ability to build custom tests depending on a user's specific requirements.

StackSafe Test Center imports images from one or more servers to create a working copy of the production software environment.

Use Your Own Tools

In addition to the IT Operations testing and reporting tools that are built into StackSafe Test Center, production testers and application support specialists can use their own favorite tools for testing, monitoring and configuration in the virtual production sandbox. For example, load generation tools can be imported into Test Center and used to generate loads on the virtual test stack. The same is true for security and vulnerability tools. Production testers may also run standards-based discovery, management and configuration tools within the Test Center sandbox.
